Brooksie Way Race

Park West Gallery is a proud sponsor of the HealthPlus Brooksie Way Half Marathon, a premier quality of life event in Oakland County, Michigan. County Executive L. Brooks Patterson began the Brooksie Way races to promote the county and encourage people to become more physically active. The event includes a half marathon, 10K and 5K courses, a kids’ race and a health expo.

The HealthPlus Brooksie Way is one of Oakland County’s premier quality-of-life events.  County Executive L. Brooks Patterson began the Brooksie Way races to promote Oakland County and encourage people to become more physically active.

Proceeds from the HealthPlus Brooksie Way are given back to the community in the form of Brooksie Way Minigrants. Non-profit agencies and organizations in Oakland County offering health and fitness-related programs are eligible to apply for an award. Grants are awarded three times per year in amounts of up to $2,000. Since its inception, the Brooksie Way Minigrant program has provided approximately $150,000 in grants to the community.

The HealthPlus Brooksie Way brings world-class road racing to Oakland County every year on the fourth Sunday in September. In 2015 Brooksie race weekend drew participants from twenty states and four countries, from two years of age to 86. The race has evolved to include a weekend of health and fitness events and activities including a kids’ race and two-day expo. Race day events include 5K, 10K and signature half marathon races as well as a post-race celebration.

In 2012, the HealthPlus Brooksie Way half-marathon course was named one of the top ten most scenic in the United States.  In March, 2016 mLive readers named Brooksie as one of the top five “most beautiful” race courses in Michigan.

Participating in one of the many Brooksie Way activities or races is fun for all ages. Individuals can run, jog, or walk the journey to crossing the finish line.

Since the very first race in 2008, more than 30,000 runners and walkers have crossed the Brooksie finish line.
