The King’s Trust: A Legacy of Empowerment

The King’s Trust has a long-standing commitment to delivering self-development and employability programs that help young people overcome barriers and reach their full potential. Their mission is to nurture future leaders by instilling the skills necessary for success in education, employment, and entrepreneurship. This dedication aligns perfectly with the Park West Foundation’s mission to support and uplift youth in the community.

An Evening of Culinary Excellence

The Dinner Series was an unforgettable evening that spotlighted Detroit’s burgeoning food scene. The event featured an all-female roster of community-minded chefs led by Chef Phoebe Zimmerman of Freya. Joining her were Chef Meiko Krishok of Pink Flamingo, Chef Alison Heeres of Coriander Kitchen, Chef Chi Walker of Fried Chicken & Caviar, and Chefs Heidi and Junior Merino of M Cantina.

Forty distinguished guests, passionate about supporting the city’s youth, gathered to enjoy a meticulously curated dining experience. The menu was crafted to showcase the diverse culinary influences and local ingredients of Detroit’s growing food scene. Every dish—from the starters to the signature cocktails—was a testament to the city’s innovation, resilience, and community spirit. Each course was paired with fine wines, enhancing the evening’s focus on both culinary excellence and Detroit’s potential.

Empowering Detroit’s Youth

A key component of the King’s Trust is its commitment to breaking cycles of poverty and enabling young people to achieve their aspirations. By partnering with organizations such as City Year, they continue to support 11 to 30-year-olds facing multiple barriers, helping them progress and succeed. The dinner in Detroit was a shining example of how meaningful partnerships can create lasting change.

In Detroit, Chicago, and New York City, The King’s Trust runs its Enterprise Challenge Program, offering young entrepreneurs mentorship and training to launch successful ventures. This initiative highlights the importance of empowering the next generation with financial independence and leadership skills.

Celebrating a Brighter Future

As we gathered to celebrate the spirit of the Motor City, we also invested in the potential of its future leaders. The Park West Foundation was proud to support this noble cause, knowing that together, we can build a better future for young people in Detroit and beyond.
